Kratom still being (unfortunately) a fairly unknown plant, direct answers are difficult to get. The legality is often stated in a side note of law or then kratom or one of the alkaloids like mitragynine is added on a regulatory listing making the alkaloid a controlled substance without actually mentioning the plant at all.
